Superb Picture
Posted by Campbell Mcpherson on 24th Oct 2022 I've also written a review for the AB Cryto Box which my wife uses. Different receivers in different rooms have avoided divorce so far!!! We both use the receivers for the RAI and Mediset channels and both work perfectly with official cards. I think the picture quality on the Pulse 4k is superior - really excellent- and the boot-up time and channel changing is much faster. This is only a future-proof unity in its CAM and, card access and also has a HDD facility in addition to recording to a USB. My only disappointment is that deleting channels seems to be impossible. I prefer to be able to delete unwanted channels rather than having to create a favourites list. That said, an excellent purchase if you want quality and future flexibility.

Good blindscan, great picture, multi-boot, but slow USB / LAN
Posted by dw on 28th Feb 2023 I have been looking for a replacement for my Vu+ Solo 4K that supports blind-scan and has provision for an embedded HD. This looks like it will do the job. I was impressed with the reverse blind-scan on C-band, I don't know if this is a feature of OpenATV 7.2, or the manufacturer's blind-scan, but it seems to progress fairly quickly. I like the display of the transponders as they are found. The built-in multi-boot is worth noting. It shipped with OpenATV 7.1. I was able to flash update online to OpenATV 7.2 directly to slot 2, which allowed me to preserve the base 7.1 image in slot 1. The two tuners are the same as used in the Octagon SF8008: /proc/bus/nim_sockets NIM Socket 0: Type: DVB-S2X Name: Si2166D Has_Outputs: no Frontend_Device: 0 I2C_Device: 0 Supports_Blind_Scan: yes NIM Socket 1: Type: DVB-S2X Name: Si2166D Has_Outputs: yes Frontend_Device: 1 I2C_Device: 0 Supports_Blind_Scan: yes For the price, it really should include 2x USB 3, not USB 2, and Gigabit LAN instead of 10/100. I might give it 4.5 - 5 stars if it had those features. However, for the small size, it does support a 15mm 1.5" HD, so that is a plus. But I would hesitate to try to record to a NAS device with only a 100mb LAN. An LCD display, or option for a 3rd tuner would probably get me to 5 stars.
